Frequently asked questions
What Tuna IPTV is, what it is not, and the questions people ask before installing it.
Does Tuna IPTV include channels?
No. Tuna is a media player, not an IPTV service. It has no channels, no streams and no content of its own. You supply a playlist from your own provider and Tuna plays what that playlist points to. We have no relationship with any IPTV seller.
Is Tuna IPTV legal?
The app itself is a player, in the same way a web browser or a video player is. What matters is what you connect it to. You are responsible for making sure the streams you add are licensed for you to watch in your country. Our Terms of Service set this out in full.
Which playlist formats does it support?
M3U and M3U8 playlist URLs, and Xtream Codes credentials (server address, username and password). You can also paste a single direct stream URL into the Single Stream player without creating a playlist at all. Guides: M3U and Xtream Codes.
Which devices does it run on?
Apple TV with tvOS 15.1 or later, Android TV, and iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 15.1 or later. It also runs on Mac with Apple silicon (macOS 12 or later) and on Apple Vision with visionOS 1.0 or later.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Every feature is free right now, including multiple playlists and the EPG. There is no paywall in the app. We plan to add a Pro tier with priority support later; when we do, it will be announced here and in the changelog.
Do I need an account?
Not to use the app. Install it, add your playlist and watch. The account system on this website exists for the future Pro tier and is separate from the app itself.
Does it support an EPG or TV guide?
Yes, and it is free. Paste an XMLTV guide URL under EPG in Settings and programme names appear on your channels, with now and next while you watch. Apple TV, Android TV and iPad also get a full six-hour guide grid. The link comes from your provider, the same place as your playlist. See the EPG guide.
Can I play a single stream without a playlist?
Yes. The Single Stream tab takes one direct stream URL and plays it straight away. It is the quickest way to test a link before committing to a full playlist.
Where is my data stored?
On your device. Playlists, favorites, settings, viewing history and guide data stay local and are never uploaded to us. There is no advertising and no tracking of what you watch. From version 1.1.0 the app does send crash reports so we can fix faults, with your playlist and stream addresses stripped out first. The privacy policy spells out what a report contains.
Will it work with my provider?
If your provider gives you a standard M3U or M3U8 link, or Xtream Codes credentials, it should work. We cannot guarantee any specific provider, because the stream, the server and any connection limits are theirs, not ours.
How do I get help?
Start with the guides. If that does not solve it, ask in the Telegram community or email info@tunaiptv.com.
