How to add an XMLTV EPG to Tuna IPTV
An EPG is the programme guide: what is on each channel now, and what is on next. Tuna reads the XMLTV format, which is the standard your IPTV provider almost certainly publishes. You add the link once and the guide keeps itself up to date.
What you need first: an XMLTV URL from your own IPTV provider, and at least one playlist already added in Tuna. The EPG is attached to a playlist, so add your playlist before you start.
Using Xtream Codes? The guide is not picked up automatically from your account. Ask your provider for their XMLTV link and add it the same way as everyone else.
Open Settings
Load the playlist you want the guide for, then open the Settings tab and find the section headed EPG (Program Guide).
The first row is EPG Source. It reads Not Set until you add a link. If it says Load a playlist instead, Tuna has no playlist open yet — go back, open one, and return to Settings.
Paste your XMLTV URL
Select EPG Source. A panel opens titled
EPG Source URL, asking you to
Enter XMLTV guide URL, with an example in the field that looks like
https://example.com/epg.xml.
Paste your provider's link and choose Save. Tuna downloads the guide and tells you how many programmes it loaded. The row now reads Configured.
Watch it appear
Programme titles show up straight away on your channels. Nothing else to switch on.
Where the guide shows up
- •On channel cards — the programme playing right now appears under the channel name as you browse.
- •While watching — bring up the player controls and you get a Now and a Next line for the channel you are on.
- •In the full guide grid — on Apple TV, Android TV and tablets, the grid icon in the player controls opens a scrollable timetable covering the next six hours, with the current programme highlighted. On phones you get the now and next lines rather than the grid.
Tuna refreshes the guide in the background and re-checks what is on every few minutes, so the now and next lines stay honest without you touching anything. To pull a fresh copy by hand, use the Refresh EPG row that appears in Settings once a source is set. If nothing has changed on your provider's side, Tuna notices and skips the download.
If the guide is empty or wrong
- •Some channels say there is no guide info. Tuna matches channels to programmes using the channel ID in your playlist. If your playlist and your EPG come from different sources, those IDs often disagree and only some channels match. Ask your provider for the EPG that goes with that playlist.
- •Tuna says the file is not valid XMLTV. The link is probably pointing at something else, such as a playlist link or a login page. XMLTV is an XML file, usually ending in
.xmlor.xml.gz. - •Nothing loads at all. Open the same link in a browser. If it does not download there, the problem is the link rather than the app.
- •Times look shifted. XMLTV carries its own time zone. A guide built for another region can read hours out; your provider is the one who can fix that.
- •Starting over. Open EPG Source again and choose Remove to clear the link, then add a different one.

The guide costs nothing, like everything else in Tuna. If you have more than one playlist, each keeps its own EPG source, so repeat these steps per playlist. See also the M3U playlist guide, the Xtream Codes guide and the FAQ.
